Tuckaway Shores Resort
Disclosure: When I visited Tuckaway Shores Resort, accommodations were provided for my trip, but all opinions and photos shared here are my own.
If you are looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life, consider a relaxing getaway to Tuckaway Shores, which is conveniently located on the Atlantic Ocean just west of Melbourne, Florida. Tuckaway Shores is a small three story resort which is fairly secluded and just steps away from the ocean on the resort’s private boardwalk.
Each unit comfortably accommodates 4 to 5 people and consists of a family room with a pull out couch, a fully equipped kitchenette, a full bathroom and a bedroom with a queen bed or two twin beds. Many rooms also offer the option of a pull out bed for a fifth person. Each room has different upgrades and decor; however, all rooms include two television sets and complimentary Wi-Fi.
During our stay, we enjoyed two rooms on the third floor. Both were tastefully decorated and had amazing views of the beach and ocean below.
Third floor rooms all have a series of three glass panel doors which open to allow the ocean breeze and sounds to fill the room. Second floor rooms have balconies with chairs which allow you to relax while taking in the sights and sounds of the beach below. First floor rooms have a porch with chairs and a small grassy area for kids to run around. It is important to note that there is no elevator, so take this into consideration when booking a room if stairs are an issue for you.
The resort also boasts a heated swimming pool (which is great for cooler times of year), a clubhouse, a Big Green Egg (grill/smoker/baker with complimentary wood chips and utensils), and complimentary pool and beach towels. In addition, the resort has a collection of beach chairs, umbrellas and beach toys for everyone to enjoy. Since there are no large hotels near Tuckaway Shores, it was nice to have the fairly secluded beach all to ourselves!
We also had a chance to see the wildlife during our stay. We saw dolphins playing happily in the water from our room and a large stingray on the beach that was accidentally caught and later released. Other guests staying at the same time saw large sea turtles at night on the beach.
The room and resort were extremely clean so I am not surprised to learn that Tuckaway Shores has won the “White Gloves” award for the last six years for superior housekeeping. In addition, Management was very attentive and helpful. They took care of minor problems quickly and professionally.
We had a great relaxing time at Tuckaway Shores and I cannot wait to return with my husband so he can try the Big Green Egg. Tuckaway Shores is a great vacation spot for couples, families with kids, and friends looking for a great girls getaway location.
