I am a native Michigander so all you have to say is the word Frankenmuth and people here know what you are talking about. However, if you are not a Michigander you may not know what we are talking about. Frankenmuth is a small town about 1 1/2 hours North of Detroit. Frankenmuth is most famous for being home to Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. At Bronner’s you can shop and experience the joys of Christmas year round but that is not the only thing to do in Frankenmuth. Keep reading to find all the great Things to do in Frankenmuth.
Things to Do in Frankenmuth
Visit Frankenmuth River Place – River Place is a recreation of a European Village and contains of 40 shops and attractions. Find one of a kind shops, specialty stores, a day spa and more when you stop in. During the Summer months the River Place hosts special events such as the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl.
Shop the Stores on Main Street – Main Street runs right thru the center of Frankenmuth and is a great place for a stroll while visiting all the unique shops and stores.
Enjoy a Family Style Chicken Dinner. Frankenmuth is the home of terrific Family Style Chicken Dinners. They have 2 locations to choose from and everyone who visits has their favorite. You can choose from Zehnders of Frankenmuth or Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Restaurant. I have enjoyed both and in my personal opinion you cannot go wrong at either restaurant.
Taste and Indulge on Delicious Fudge – When in Frankenmuth you cannot leave without a few slices of Frankenmuth Fudge. They have been around since 1964 and are my favorite Fudge shop in Frankenmuth. Choose from over 20 flavors daily and stop in and enjoy a demonstration in traditional fudge making. Well you are there enjoy a free sample and check out their Saltwater Taffy, Carmel Corn, and Brittle also.
Take Your Family to an Indoor Waterpark. Wether you want to make a day visit or stay the night Frankenmuth has 2 hotels with Indoor Waterparks that are sure to fit your family’s needs. Stay at Bavarian Inn Lodge or Zehnder’s Splash Village.
Visit Michigan’s Own Military and Space Heroes Museum. – Located off the main strip many don’t know this museum exists. Michigan’s Own is a “one of a kind” in the United States because it honors only those from our state. This is a great way to introduce your children and family to heroes from Michigan.
Tour Grandpa Tiny’s Farm – This farm is open to the public from April – October. It operates as a historical farm as well as a petting farm. Young and old will enjoy the personal guided tours, a horse drawn carriage ride, and cuddling with the farms animals. Seasonal demonstrations include horse plowing, planting and harvesting and times vary with the season.
Take a House Drawn Carriage Ride – Tour the city of Frankenmuth with the Fantasy Carriage Company or Frankenmuth Carriage Company. You will get to see Main Street and many historical locations during your tour.
While in Frankenmuth don’t forget to stop by and visit Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland.
