The state fair is a place where America is still America it is as old as time and it is as exciting as ever. Where else can you get fried cookies, cotton candy, and tickets to ride spinning rides from morning until night? How do you take part in this right of passage without breaking the bank?
How to save money at the state fair
The best way is to search online for coupons or specials. You look on social media and listen to the radio. You see if there are package deals. They often include admission and ride tickets. You look for the times of days when it is cheapest to attend. You look for ticket deals if you buy a certain amount you receive a certain amount free. You also need to see if there are charges for parking if so ride with another family. That is also a great way to save money on tickets if you purchase large quantities and having another family with you can increase your buying power.
The other thing you need to see if food is allowed than bring your own bottled water. I also bring in small snacks because my children want to eat 24/7. I also suggest eating before you go and setting a budget for each child for their own special treat set the expectation that it is one not many. If they want many they need to see if each child would pick something different so they can share.
I also set a budget for each child and let them pick out how much they want to spend on rides and how much on food and then there are the games. We do a quick walk around and look at the map and determine what our plan is for the day or night. I always challenge the kids to find fun things to do that are free at the fair. The fair always offer animals meet and greets, contests to participate in and those to vote in. You can have a lot of fun at the fair that is free look at the schedule and she what is going on and make sure the majority of you fair time is spent watching the entertainment.
If the children are bored it will always cost you more. The bracelets are also a great deal if your children really enjoy riding the rides if not skip them and stick with a ride number limit and offer tickets. The best way to save at the fair is to put together a budget and get cash once it is gone it is gone. Enjoy the fair it can be done frugally. Have a great tip for enjoying the fair on a budget?
