Dreaming of an Alabama Road Trip
For those who visit us at Vacation Maybe regularly, you know that I dream of traveling all over the United States on a 2 year long road trip in our caboose camper. For new readers, from time to time you will find a list of all the places I would like to visit in a particular state when my dream comes true. Notice the when not if clause in that statement, hehe. Well, as of now I am still dreaming and right now I am dreaming about beaches and bbq in Alabama.
Alabama Road Trip Bucket List
If you are looking to do a road trip in Alabama that you absolutely must check out all the Alabama Road Trips online and download the Alabama Road Trip app which is available on Android or iPhone. You can explore 60 different road trips and decide which one is the best for your family. I picked out my 2 favorite but they all sound like so much fun I could spend every day of my 2 year long dream road trip in just the state of Alabama!
Beaches
Let’s start with beaches and Alabama Road Trip No. 39: Outdoor Beach Adventure:Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
“For those who love fast-paced activities and the great outdoors, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach provide the ideal vacation destination. This road trip takes you to Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast region for fishing, parasailing, hot air balloon rides, scuba diving and exciting dolphin cruises. Down along the Alabama coast, where 32 miles of sugar white sand beaches offer fun 365 days of the year, you’ll discover adventure at every turn – on land, by sea and in the air.” – Edith Parten
They had me at parasailing, hot air balloon rides, scuba diving, and dolphin cruises. This is definitely the road trip for my adventure seeking family.
BBQ
Next up is my love of BBQ and Alabama Road Trip #40 Pork, Blues, and Inner Tubes:A Tour of Alabama Barbeque
I absolutely must try Alabama white sauce and why not get it straight form the source: Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ. It sounds like there is an Alabama style bbq for everyone with a rich bbq history that incorporates flavors from other regional influences as well as Alabama’s own traditional white sauce, pickles, and sauces with mustard. This road trip would not be complete without a a day or two of splashing fun at the Point Mallard Water Park.
Have you been to the most bbq crazed state in the U.S.? If not, take a look at all the awesome road trips and let us know which one your family would most enjoy!
