Family Road Trip Tips
We love to travel and have taken quite a few road trips the last few years. I have driven alone with an infant on a six-hour road trip, with my husband and son to various places and we even drove two cars across the country with a toddler and a cat to get to our new home. Along the way we have learned a few things to help get us to our final destination. Here are my top five tips to help you plan your next road trip.
Top 5 Tips for your next Road Trip
-
Have a plan – It doesn’t matter if you are driving a few hours or a few days. Make sure you have a plan on where you are going and when you intend on stopping. You may have to make adjustments here or there, but having a set plan will help you get where you need to be.
-
Do not be overly ambitious – Our goal on the road trip from Ohio to California was to go 100 miles without stopping.
-
Remember it is about the memories. Maybe the trip will start off rocky or have bumps along the way, but the memories you make are what matters.
-
Join a hotel group and try to stay at that hotel often. As you rack up points you can earn free stays and other great perks.
-
Make sure if you are traveling with kids you have extra everything. If they are in diapers pack twice what you need and it is a good idea to have a few extra outfits. If they are older it is always a good idea to have an extra set of clothes.
These are just some of the tips we have acquired from our travels. What other good tips do you have?
