Clearwater Marine Aquarium
The Clearwawater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater Florida, is the home of Winter and Hope. It’s a great place to visit!
We went on a VERY HOT Friday afternoon. I’m not sure what we were thinking! It was crowded and about 95 degrees, but we really did have a great time. I was with one of my sons, his wife and their two boys, age 1 and 5. I’m not sure who has the most fun. The little guy, Nolan, was enthralled with everything. Connor was the most delighted in the children’s education room, where he was able to see a full size fish skeleton.
I could not get enough of Winter. She has the most infections smile! YES SMILE.
When not wearing her prosthetic tail, she likes to float in her pool on a raft.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is primarily a Rescue, Rehab and Release facility. They also provide protection for sea turtles on the beaches of Pinellas County. They pride themselves on their many educational programs.
There are shows throughout the day, that are located “inside of the aquarium”, and there are also some outside attractions that are not under roof.
For those unfortunate animals that cannot be placed back into their natural habitats, it offers a permanent home with expert around the clock care. There are 4 dolphins in residence – Panama, Nicholas, Hope and Winter.
The aquarium at the time of our visit, also housed a couple of pelicans, sea turtles, and an otter.
I found the huge displays of shells to be one of the most interesting areas.
There is a fantastic little gift shop and you can purchase some “fast food” just outside of the aquarium.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a great place to visit and you can know that the money that you spend for the tickets goes to a very very good cause!
