Located just a short drive from popular Sandusky, Ohio (home of Cedar Point), Put In Bay Island offers amazing views, history and fun for the whole family. Just a short Ferry Ride on Miller Ferries from the main land and you arrive at the beautiful island and can experience the charm of a small town.
When visiting Put In Bay you can opt to take a self guided tour or purchase the Island Fun Pack. The Island Fun Pack includes tickets to fun attractions and includes transportation via the Put in Bay Tour Train. If you are taking a self guided tour you need to consider transportation because everything is not in walking distance from the ferry.
You can bring your car across on the ferry for a fee or if you opt to leave it on the mainland there are options available. You can take a bus or taxi into town where you can rent a golf cart. While we were there we noticed that even locals prefer this method to get around the island than cars because it is more convenient and they are easier to park in areas where car parking is limited.
We had received the Island Fun Pack so we used the Put In Bay Tour Train. This was a convenient way to hit the major attractions but we missed out on some scenic views since it has a set course. The tour train was also fun because the driver gave us history and information on the island and surrounding islands. I always enjoy learning new things about places I visit and loved being able to gather this information while seeing the points of interest.
