Tanaka Farms Annual Pumpkin Patch
Tanaka Farms was established in 1940 before Irvine was more than open fields and agriculture. Since then they have continued to be one of LA’s premier farms. A person can sign up for a weekly or monthly Community Share Association Box or you can visit the farm for their regularly scheduled events.
My family went to the annual Pumpkin Patch and to say it was a fun event wouldn’t even begin to describe how much fun it was. There were hay bell set out for seating and mazes, which my two-year-old thought was the coolest thing ever. A scare crow contest, a tractor for pictures, petting zoo, tractor wagon rides, pumpkin launching and of course a huge selection of pumpkins to pick from.
Admission to the event is $2, which includes the corn maze, various picture pose sights and the pumpkin patch. For an additional $5 you can ride the wagon around the farm, which stops at the pumpkin launching point to watch a pumpkin be launched high into the sky. For an additional $3 you can enter the petting zoo with to see various farm animals. There are also various games and ATV rides available for the kids. Children 2 years 11 months and under are free, active duty military is also free.
The pumpkin patch runs from late September until Halloween open daily from 9 am to 6 pm. Tanaka Farms has various events (strawberry picking, melon picking, Christmas trees) through out the year and with how much fun we had at this event we plan to go back soon. The Farm is open year round for U-Pick veggies so no matter what time you visit the LA area you can head out to Tanaka Farms for a fun adventure.
