West Virginia Farmer’s Markets: Greenbrier Valley

We had a great morning touring our local West Virginia Farmer’s Markets in Lewisburg!  We were happy to find that Lewisburg offers two markets on Saturdays.   Our first stop was the Greenbrier Valley Farmer’s Market, on the corner of Jefferson (Rt. 219) and Arbuckle Lane.  Open seasonally, roughly from April thru November, the market has a wonderful selection of fresh local produce, beautiful cut flowers, hand made artisan breads, fresh handmade pastries and quick breads, fruit, honey, grass fed beef, farm fresh eggs and delicious kettle corn.

We enjoyed meeting and talking with the vendors, who were all very friendly and took time to go over their products, giving us ways to prepare and enjoy our purchases. The thing that I preferred with this location is that they were all produced locally with local ingredients, which was our intent for buying from a farmer’s market in the first place.

Our next stop was the Lewisburg Farmer’s Market located in the parking lot of the Post Office on Washington Street (Rt. 60) and Sibold Lane.  This market is also open on Saturdays, seasonally, and featured many vendors for free range, grass fed poultry and beef, fresh cut flowers, hand made works in silk, various jams & jellies and produce.   Our experience there was more memorable thanks to a woman named Suzanne Williams, who makes unique items in silk and paper as well as beautiful jams and conserve.  She was a delight to talk to and put a personal touch on our visit.
