Heritage House and Botanical Gardens in Largo, FL
A Visit to Heritage House in Florida
There are not a lot of season changes in FL unless you count hurricane season. In the fall it is cooler and a great place to visit the Historic Heritage House and the Botanical Gardens (right next store) in Largo, FL. Largo is in the St Petersburg area.
The Heritage House is an open-air historical village and museum with structures dating back to the mid-late 19th century. It’s a 21-acre living history museum located in the heart of Pinellas County. The natural pine and palmetto landscape is home to some of Pinellas County’s most historic buildings. There are more than 28 historic structures and features, some dating back to the 19th century, include a school, church, sponge warehouse, railroad depot and store as well as a variety of historic homes.
We had a lot of fun walking around and learning about the history of the area. There was old farming equipment and even an old school house.
Right next door is the Florida Botanical Garden. The great thing about FL is that you can see beautiful flowers all year round!
There are 25 gardens and display areas on 150 acres including a butterfly garden!
It is such a beautiful and peaceful place to spend the day and take pictures. The munchkins love the butterflies. If you were white or bright colored clothes the butterflies may even land on you!
If you visit the Tampa/St Pete area this and the Heritage House are a definite must see! If you live there it makes a great day activity!
