Michigan gets its 1st The Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory invited me out to their Ribbon Cutting and a mock meal with my family. All opinions in this article are my own and I have not been compensated in exchange for positive comments or reviews.

I fell in love with The Cheesecake Factory back in 1996 when I was on a trip to Atlanta, Georgia. I have since dreamed of the delicious taste of their cheesecakes and have never really found one that had the taste and texture of the ones that they make. Imagine my delight when I became aware of the 1st Cheesecake Factory opening in Michigan. For months I sat on pins and needles waiting to find out when the grand opening would be.  I could finally introduce my husband and daughter to The Cheesecake Factory.

My wish came true in the form of an email last week letting me know that the Grand Opening was Tuesday, August 13, 2013 but the Ribbon Cutting would be on Friday, August 9, 2013. I had a conference to attend but this warranted adjusting my schedule. Before you even ask, Yes I do love cheesecake that much. On a personal note, that is my dessert of choice and I was happily enjoying cheesecake when my husband tried to propose. I say “tried” because I didn’t know what he was doing and told him to leave me alone because I was eating cheesecake. I did stop once I realized what he was up to but it is a joke to this day that nothing distracts me from cheesecake.

The new Cheesecake Factory is  located in Novi, Michigan in Twelve Oaks Mall.

This is the 1st location in Michigan and marks a very important mile stone for owner David Overton. He was born and raised in Michigan and it is his mother’s cheesecake recipe that is the base for all of the cheesecakes available. Growing up as a child, he would help his mother assemble boxes for allowance. She baked cheesecakes out of her basement kitchen in order to provide an income for the family but remain home for the children. He is finally back where it all started and they are considering adding other locations in Michigan in the future.

 The Cheesecake Factory location is perfect for those local to Novi or in the surrounding areas. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the service is top notch. The quality and quantity of food was overwhelming and we all took home at least half our meal to enjoy later. The cheesecake slice was so large that  all 3 of us were unable to eat more than 1 slice together.

The Cheescake Factory menu boasts 250 items and 30 different kinds of cheesecake. You could visit every day for a month and have a different flavor each day. The newest flavor is the Smores Cheesecake and this was just introduced on July 31st. It is absolutely divine and combines the perfect marshmallow goodness of Smores with the rich decadence of Cheesecake. The perfect dessert in every bite.
